where to start!

At European Boats we understand buying a boat is a big decision for you and your family and ordering a new boat from the other side of the world can seem like a daunting process. There will be many questions that need answers, factors to consider and a genuine need to trust the people you are dealing with. This is what we do best, and it starts with a conversation about your specific needs and how you can trust us to deliver those.

Start here

Boat Customisation

Boat Customisation

Once we’ve had that initial conversation about the boat brand & model the discussion is then followed by compiling a specification which includes all the technical aspects of the boat. Things like what engine configuration is preferred, what electronics package will work best for your type of boating, do I need a generator or watermaker, is Lithium battery power an option, or what colour options are there for the interior and soft furnishings. We have highly technical staff with years of experience that help guide you through this process, they also work closely with the boat builder to ensure all your questions can be answered.

Order Placement

Once the specification is completed the next step is order placement with the boat builder. Each builder will have their own requirements for this and will provide a lead time to delivery. Generally, we look to place an initial deposit with the builder which locks in a build slot and confirms details as outlined in the specification. We assist with payment of the deposit as this is usually done in the Euro currency and is paid directly to the boat builder.

Build Process

Build Process

The boat builder will provide regular updates during the build process and often provide photos of your boat as it goes through the factory. The brands we represent all have in-house test tanks which each boat goes through to test water tightness and weight balance. Once the boat has been signed off by quality control it will be fully protected and wrapped ready for shipment. This is generally accompanied by a second payment prior to the boat leaving the factory.

Logistics

Commissioning

Build Process

Shipping and transportation can be a challenging process, that’s why we partner with proven logistics companies to ensure the safe transportation of your vessel. Our services cover both international shipping and domestic transportation. We also offer an insurance service, provided via a marine insurance broker, so you can rest assured that should anything unforeseen happen then everything will be take care of. Your boat will be trucked from the factory to the nearest port where it will be loading onto a ship for transportation to New Zealand. Depending on the destination port in New Zealand we will either arrange truck transportation to a suitable boat yard or marina location.

Commissioning

Commissioning

Commissioning

Once your boat arrives, we have a proven process for un-packing and commissioning your vessel. This includes checking for any physical damage during shipping and then all on-board equipment is run and checked off. We also supply and install any additional equipment such as EPIRBs, Tenders, Stainless Steel work, that you might require. Finally, we perform a sea trail and arrange for the engine PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection), we only use authorized engine service agents for this process, this is to ensure all warranty requirements are met.
